Multiple Claude Code accounts

This guide shows how to use more than one Claude Code account in the SSG dashboard terminal. SSG shows the usage of each account. When one account reaches its limit, SSG can move your conversation to the next account.

This feature needs a SigmaShake subscription ($5/month). SigmaShake is free to download and install. Without a subscription, the usage row shows that the feature needs a subscription.

Where to find it

  1. Open the SSG dashboard.
  2. Open Terminal.
  3. Look at the usage row at the bottom.

The row shows one chip for each Claude account. Each chip shows the 5-hour used percentage and a small meter.

If you have only the machine login, the row shows one Add Claude account chip.

Add an account

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Open the Claude accounts panel. You can also click the Add Claude account chip.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Enter a name.
  5. Click Sign in.

A sign-in pane opens. It runs claude auth login for that account. Finish the sign-in in that pane.

Each account gets its own config folder:

  • Linux and macOS: ~/.sigmashake/claude-accounts/<id>/
  • Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.sigmashake\claude-accounts\<id>\

Your main ~/.claude folder shares these items with each account through links:

  • settings
  • CLAUDE.md
  • skills
  • agents
  • commands
  • plugins
  • hooks
  • projects

Only the login is separate.

Rename, disable, reorder, or remove an account

Use the same Claude accounts panel.

Remove keeps the account folder on disk.

Set the default account

  1. Select an account.
  2. Open Details.
  3. Click Make default.

New Claude panes open on the account that the pick order chooses. The default account wins a tie.

Pick order

SSG uses the pick order for failover, for "auto", and for new panes. SSG ranks accounts in this order:

  1. Accounts whose 5-hour window is running with at least 25% left. The soonest reset comes first.
  2. Accounts with no running window.
  3. All other accounts. The most usage left comes first.

Auto-switch

Auto-switch moves your work when an account reaches its limit.

  1. Claude Code reports a usage limit in a pane.
  2. SSG marks that account as limited until its reset.
  3. SSG exits Claude.
  4. SSG resumes the same conversation on the next account in the pick order. The command is claude --resume <session> 'continue'.

Auto-switch and the continue prompt are settings. You can change both.

When all accounts are limited, a banner shows the earliest reset.

Switch by hand

  1. Click a chip.
  2. Confirm.

The focused Claude pane switches to that account and resumes.

Stagger the 5-hour windows

This setting is off by default.

A 5-hour window starts at the first message of an account. It resets 5 hours later.

With stagger on and 2 or more accounts, SSG sends one short message to an idle account when its slot is due. The message is "ok" with no tools, and it uses a Haiku model. The resets then sit about 5 hours divided by N apart, where N is the number of accounts.

  • Each message uses a very small amount of that account's usage.
  • SSG sends at most one message per account per window.
  • With fewer than 2 accounts, stagger does nothing.

To turn it on:

  1. Select an account.
  2. Open Details.
  3. Turn on Stagger 5h windows.

To set the gap between slots (15 to 300 minutes), use the settings API:

PUT /api/terminal/claude-accounts/settings
{"stagger":{"enabled":true,"gapMinutes":60}}

Notes for each operating system

  • Linux and Windows: SSG reads the credentials of each account from <config folder>/.credentials.json.
  • macOS: SSG reads the credentials from the login Keychain. The item is named Claude Code-credentials-<hash>. SSG only reads it. SSG never writes it. macOS can ask once to allow access.
  • Windows without symlink rights: SSG uses directory junctions and hard links instead.

Privacy

SSG never shows or logs OAuth tokens. SSG reads usage from the Claude usage endpoint. It uses the token of each account for its own usage.

API

All endpoints need a subscription and the local dashboard token.
